The experience

Clients can enjoy a unique experience of Japanese cuisine, as well as the best sushi, carefully prepared by trained professionals.

Gerson Alves arrived in Portugal about 10 years ago to join his uncle in launching the Sushi Yama Take Away Service within the well-known Apolónia supermarket in Almancil.

It quickly became an enormous success due to their quality and originality amongst the supermarket’s clients and, in just two years, Gerson and his uncle opened a restaurant with the same name.

8 Years later, the restaurant is now managed exclusively by Gerson Alves and is considered the best traditional Japanese restaurant in the Algarve.




Its cuisine consists of fantastic dishes, including not only the traditional sushi, but also delicious hot dishes. Gerson Alves aims to consistently provide his clients with a personalised service, as every client is special and deserves the staff’s utmost attention.

Located in Almancil, just a 2-minute drive from Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo, two of the most exclusive cities in the Algarve, it excels due to its high quality cuisine and service, delighting those who visit throughout the year.
